As the press states, it'€™s almost '€˜over engineered'€™ in its way, a motor car that, when released, rivalled the Audi A8 and the BMW 7 series luxury, yet better. With a £52k price tag, the Phaeton didn'€™t get the world renown or exposure that it deserved.
Inspired by the Porsche family and the then Volkswagen Group CEO, with a Bentley chassis and gearbox, the specification and design features are something else to behold. Double glazed windows and an air system to constantly keep those windows '€˜un-steamed'€™. Ahead of it'€™s day. Totally air-tight, this limousine is eerily quiet on the road and the sumptuous heated leather armchair seats make you feel like you are at home on the sofa , not cruising silently on the motorway at 89 mph. (If that speed were allowed of course)
AND she'€™s a 4 wheel drive. Or All Wheel Drive, for the purists '€¦
Bags of power and one of the smoothest automatic gearboxes I'€™ve had the good fortune to drive. The V6 diesel produces an effortless 240 bhp and is just, well, awesome.
Last owner for 8 years, only 3 owners in total and a full to-the-minute stamped service record.
I'€™ve just put her in for MOT replacing two front tyres and a front advisory bush. And the windscreen which has a little crack/stone chip.
We fully service now which will include Haldex, gearbox and engine oil and filters plus air and fuel filters. So, no stone left unturned.
This car must be driven to be appreciated, it'€™s an absolute one-off and one of about a half dozen for sale in Northern Britain.
Finished in grey metallic with the aforementioned black leather heated armchairs front and rear, this machine belongs on the Lairds country estate, or your drive. One or the other .

I'€™m currently using the Phaeton myself as it'€™s just such an experience'€¦I feel almost not worthy.
